Last Weeks in KC

Hey Reader,

Today officially marks the two-week mark before my brother David and I will be driving down to Richmond! The preparations are starting—bought a duffle bag and a new guitar strap, and it's starting to become real.

Last night I sang my last set on Nightwatch at the Prayer Room, which was very bittersweet. Singing and praying during the night this summer has easily been a highlight and a source of life. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to do so.

Financial Update

I also wanted to give you an update on how support raising is going. Through the generous partnership of people just like you I have raised $6,000! This covers the price of my fall tuition and a portion of my living expenses. Here is the breakdown:

  • $5K/$5K fall tuition raised- THANK YOU!!!
  • $1K/$3K for living expenses & travel, $2K to go!
  • $8,500 for Spring Missions Trip:
    • $2,500 by Oct. 27, 2024
    • $4,500 by Dec. 8th, 2024
    • $7,000 by Jan. 5th, 2025
    • $8,500 by Feb. 2, 2025
  • $10,500 Total Still Needed.

Prayer Request

Reader, will you pray Heb 13:20-21 for me in this transition time from Kansas City to Virginia to the mission field?

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Heb 13:20–21)

Reader, thank you so much for praying and giving and making this possible—it couldn't be done without you, and I am so, so grateful, from the bottom of my heart.

I am so excited and expectant for this new season.

Hi Reader, I hope this letter finds you well, and that you are staying warm and enjoying the unescapable stillness winter provides. I want to share a sweet dream I had a couple of weeks ago with you. In the dream, I sat at a table across from my sister Avila. I said to her, “Jesus spent most of His life in the normalcy of what it means to be human- living day to day as we do. So our day-to-day, our mundane, that is what He wants to talk about. That is where He wants to meet us.” As I told her...

a thought (or two) on trees My journals, sketchbooks, and anyone who has spent enough time with me know of my love for trees. I still find just as much joy in climbing a tree as I did when I was a little girl- still nothing like sitting up high surrounded by branches swinging from limb to limb. Recently, someone asked me why trees, what draws me to them? I found myself at a loss of words. But after pondering for a while, I realized that most of my fascination would have to do with knowing...
